Romantic Getaway
With an abundance of romantic hotels, restaurants, and things to do in Salt Lake City, surprising your sweetie with a romantic getaway is always the right move.
Day 1
Check into your choice of several romantic Salt Lake City hotels. Located downtown, close to restaurants, bars, museums, and shops, you can’t go wrong with the Kimpton Hotel Monaco Salt Lake City. On top of the ideal location, the hotel offers spa services in the privacy of your room. A couple's massage to start or end the day is just what Dr. Cupid ordered.
Once you get checked in, it’s time to start wooing your significant other over a dinner you’ll both cherish forever. The historic atmosphere at Current Fish & Oyster sets a striking contrast to the restaurant’s contemporary dining options. Afterward, with your love buzz humming strong, take a romantic stroll around downtown or enjoy great conversation over drinks at BTG Wine Bar.
Day 2
Start the day right with breakfast and pastries at the European-styled Eva’s Bakery. Next, explore Red Butte Garden together, which you can visit no matter what time of year your trip is. Choose from one of many themed gardens this botanical garden offers, such as the Wildflower Meadow, Rose Garden, or Fragrance Garden. A walk among the 500,000 springtime blooming bulbs will score more love points than even the most extravagant flower bouquet.
Next, take your partner shopping. Located downtown, City Creek Center boasts over 110 stores, a gigantic glass ceiling that opens if the weather’s right, a stream stocked with fish, and more. Sure, you can visit a mall anywhere, but gifting your favorite person something special on your romantic SLC getaway is the perfect way to bring them back to the memory every time they see it.
Finish the day with a quick bite before taking in a performance at the Eccles Theater. This 2,500-seat venue hosts plays, musicals, comedians, and other acts, though the jaw-dropping beauty of the space is enough to make any pair of hearts beat faster.
Day 3
If you’re here during ski season, take a drive into the Wasatch Mountains for a day of couples skiing or snowboarding at one of our world-class ski resorts—Snowbird, Brighton, Solitude, and ski-only Alta. If your visit is during the off-season, this scenic drive offers all the beauty and grandeur necessary for a day of romance.
Another option in warmer months is planning a hike to one of our many alpine lakes like Lake Blanche. It’s a moderate hike, so you’ll get your workout in, and after three heart-pumping uphill miles, you’ll reach the reward of a tranquil lake set against a breathtaking backdrop of the soaring Sundial Peak. With this dramatic, pyramid-shaped peak reflecting on the lake’s surface, it’s challenging to find a more romantic spot to spend with your partner.
Head back into the city for pints at Beer Bar, followed by another arm-in-arm stroll downtown. By this point, as you both smile softly, basking in the warm glow of your love, you’ll know that your romantic Salt Lake City getaway was a big hit and then some.
