Salt Lake and Beyond Itinerary

Salt Lake is not only an incredible place to visit, but it is surrounded by fascinating places to experience. See the basics in Salt Lake, but then try out some of the nearby highlights. Park City (home to the Sundance Film Festival), beautiful Heber Valley, Antelope Island in the Great Salt Lake, and Historic 25th Street in Ogden are all within an hour’s drive of downtown.

Transportation: With destinations outside of Salt Lake, we recommend access to a car for this itinerary.

Day 1: Salt Lake City Essentials

City & County Building

Head to City and County Building, an architectural masterpiece, and stroll through the surrounding Washington Square.

Lunch: Red Iguana

736 W North Temple
Try some of the best and most popular Mexican cuisine in the city at Red Iguana. Their mole dishes are a local fave.

Utah Museum of Fine Arts

410 Campus Center Drive
Spend your afternoon at the Utah Museum of Fine Arts, with art ranging from classic to contemporary, and ongoing exhibits, talks, and discussions.

Dinner: Takashi

18 W Market Street 
Have dinner at Takashi, one of Salt Lake's top sushi restaurants. Their creative sushi rolls and Japanese dishes are a must-try.

Day 2: East to Park City and Heber Valley

Afternoon: Homestead Crater

700 N Homestead Drive, Midway
Explore the Homestead Crater, a geothermal spring hidden within a 55-foot tall limestone rock. You can swim or snorkel in its warm mineral-rich waters.

Evening: Park City Main Street

Main Street, Park City
Drive back to Park City and take a walk down historic Main Street, filled with charming shops, art galleries, and boutiques. Don't miss the Kimball Art Center for contemporary art exhibitions.

Day 3: Natural Wonders and More

Morning: Antelope Island State Park

Leave early for the drive to Antelope Island State Park in the Great Salt Lake, or alternately, take a guided tour. Explore the island's unique landscape and gorgeous views of the lake, search for wildlife, and visit the Antelope Island Visitor Center.  

Lunch: The Bayou

Head back to the city and have a late lunch at The Bayou, known for its extensive beer selection and Cajun cuisine.  

Afternoon: Museum Day

Spend your afternoon exploring one of Salt Lake City's excellent museums. Depending on your interests options include:

Dinner: Eva

For your final dinner in Salt Lake City, dine at Eva, a delicious tapas restaurant offering a variety of small plates for sharing.

Evening: The Depot

Salt Lake’s premier live music venue is downtown, located in the historic Union Pacific Building. Catch a band, have a drink to celebrate, and dance the night away.
