Transportation: With destinations spanning both the city and surrounding mountains, having access to a car is highly recommended. This will give you the freedom to fully explore the diverse landscapes and picturesque vistas that define the region, ensuring you don’t miss any hidden gems along the way.

DAY 1 | DAY 2 | DAY 3

Day 1: Embrace the Fall Festivities in Salt Lake County

Morning: Snowbird Tram

Start your day with a scenic ride on the Snowbird Tram. The tram takes you up 2,900 vertical feet to the top of Hidden Peak, offering stunning panoramic views of the fall foliage. Don’t forget to snap a new profile picture—this is prime selfie territory.

Midday: Oktoberfest at Snowbird

After your ride, unwind at Snowbird’s Oktoberfest. Enjoy traditional German food, live music, and, of course, a wide selection of beers. Lederhosen optional, but highly recommended for full festive immersion. The 2024 festival takes place every Saturday and Sunday from August 10th to October 15th and Labor Day. 

Afternoon: Silver Lake Loop at Brighton

For a more laid-back afternoon, take a short drive to Brighton and indulge in a leisurely stroll around Silver Lake. This easy, scenic loop trail is perfect for all ages and offers stunning views of the fall colors reflecting off the lake. Plus, with all the vibrant autumn hues, you'll feel like you're walking through a living postcard. Pro tip: Keep an eye out for the local wildlife—they might just photobomb your scenic shots.  

Evening: University of Utah Football Game

Cap off your day by cheering on the University of Utah Utes at Rice-Eccles Stadium. Experience the thrill of college football under the lights, surrounded by passionate fans and the vibrant energy of the game. Grab some stadium food and immerse yourself in local culture for a fun fall evening. Games happen on alternating Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays so be sure to plan your trip accordingly.

Optional Evening Activity: Ice Cream at Normal Ice Cream:

After the football game, indulge in a sweet treat at Normal Ice Cream, conveniently located near Rice-Eccles Stadium. Evening: Dinner at The Copper Onion

Day 3: Exploring Scenic Byways and Local Flavor in Salt Lake County

Morning: Big Cottonwood Canyon Scenic Byway

Kick off your day with a drive along Big Cottonwood Canyon Scenic Byway. This route offers breathtaking views of fall colors, winding through aspen and pine forests. Don’t forget to stop at viewpoints like Silver Lake for stunning photos. Trust us, your Instagram will thank you!

Midday: Lunch in Millcreek

Head to Millcreek for a cozy lunch. Enjoy the mountain views while dining on seasonal dishes at The Red Moose Cafe or Provisions. Nothing like a great meal with a side of fresh mountain air to rejuvenate you for the day ahead.

Afternoon: Milcreek Canyon

Continue your adventure with a visit to Millcreek Canyon. Take a hike on one of the many trails, such as the Desolation Trail to Salt Lake Overlook, and bask in the beautiful autumn scenery. It’s the perfect way to burn off those lunchtime calories—nature’s gym, if you will!

Evening: Dinner & Local Brews

Return to Salt Lake City for dinner at a local favorite like TF Brewing or Squatters Pub Brewery. Afterward, explore more of the local craft beer scene with Visit Salt Lake's Brewery Pass. It offers access and discounts to several of the city's best breweries. Why have one beer when you can have a (brewery) pass of them? 

Optional Evening Activity: Red Butte Garden Concert Series

If you're in the mood for some live music under the stars, check out the Red Butte Garden Concert Series. Enjoy a variety of performances in a beautiful outdoor setting. It’s the perfect way to relax and enjoy the cool evening air. Wave one of the concert series ends September 5th, and the second wave picks up the next day and extends through September 25th.
