This strategic initiative, led by Visit Salt Lake and Sports Salt Lake, establishes the leading volunteer program in the community, setting the standard for quality, engagement, and preparedness across all events. The program takes a structured approach to ensuring volunteers are well-prepared, engaged, and truly representative of Salt Lake.

Salt Lake continues to attract a growing portfolio of sporting events, meetings, conventions, and community initiatives. Having a coordinated, high-quality volunteer infrastructure is essential to delivering a consistent, world-class experience for visitors and participants alike.

Visit Salt Lake's Volunteer Hub serves as a central location for the broader community, connecting individuals to opportunities beyond Visit Salt Lake and Sports Salt Lake events. This broader engagement helps grow the volunteer network while reinforcing a consistent standard of volunteer excellence across the region.

This initiative positions Salt Lake to support larger national and international events well into the future, including the 2034 Winter Games. The work being built today lays the foundation for Salt Lake's biggest moments ahead.

What to expect as a volunteer

1. Sign Up

Create your volunteer profile through our volunteer platform, Galaxy Digital. Once you're in the system, browse upcoming opportunities and express interest in events that fit your schedule

2. Get Trained

Quarterly training sessions are open to all volunteers, plus event-specific briefings before each major event, covering hospitality standards and ambassador expectations. All volunteers will receive a background check in order to enable them to participate in additional community events.

3. Show up & represent

Once trained and matched to an event, you'll be deployed as part of a prepared, professional volunteer team, ready for whatever Salt Lake needs.

We hold our volunteers to a high standard, because the events we support do too. All Visit Salt Lake volunteers are expected to:

Be trained and prepared before each event
Represent Salt Lake professionally and outfitted with pride
Deliver a high-quality experience for every visitor and participant

Background checks may be required for certain roles or event types to maintain program standards.

Who can volunteer through Visit Salt Lake's Volunteer Hub?

Anyone who is passionate about Salt Lake and wants to support great events and community initiatives. Whether you're a longtime local or a newcomer looking to get connected, there's a place for you.

Do I need prior volunteer experience?

No experience required. All volunteers go through training before being placed at events, so you'll be fully prepared regardless of your background.

Is training required?

Yes, and it's a good thing. Quarterly training sessions and event-specific briefings ensure every volunteer is ready to deliver a high-quality experience. Training covers hospitality, ambassador standards, and event-specific information.

What kinds of events will I be volunteering at?

Is there a background check?
