Regardless of your heritage, embracing St. Patrick's Day offers a wonderful opportunity to welcome the arrival of spring and unwind after the chilly winter months.

There are plenty of St. Patrick's Day events for everyone in Salt Lake this year, like the St. Patrick's Day parade at The Gateway, Celtic music concerts at the Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center and elsewhere, running a half marathon at Gardner Village, and all kinds of celebrations at Salt Lake's Irish-themed pubs.

It's time to wear your best green sweater, eat (or drink) something green, laugh with friends and celebrate spring in SLC this weekend!

The St. Patrick's Day Parade and Siamsa at The Gateway

Saturday, March 16 - parade at 11 am, Siamsa until 5 pm
The Gateway - 18 North Rio Grande, Salt Lake

What better day to celebrate the day than at a parade! Get ready to paint the town green at Salt Lake City's 46th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Síamsa. A síamsa, for those who don't know, is essentially a gaelic word for "party." Experience the warmth of Irish hospitality with music that will get you in the mood by bands like Pladdohg, Murphy and the Giant, Shanahy and more; Irish dance with a multitude of talented companies; traditional Irish cuisine; and artisan vendor booths all at The Gateway this Saturday from 11 a.m. onwards.

Irish Fest & Gaelic Athletic Championships

Championships: Saturday, March 16, 7 am-2 pm & Sunday, March 17 - 8 am-4 pm
Irish Fest: Sunday, March 17
Zion Bank Stadium - 14787 S. Academy Pkwy, Herriman

The Hibernian Society of Utah that organized the Parade and Siamsa, and who truly celebrate all things Irish, sponsor Irish Fest in the south end of the valley. Music and dance, vendors, and more are all in store - but there's more to this celebration. It's in tandem with the National Collegiate Gaelic Athletic Association Championships - with traditional Gaelic hurling competitions and football. There's nothing quite so Irish as watching hurling - if you haven't experienced it before, now's your chance!

St. Patrick's Concerts

Multiple dates, times, and locations

Another great way to celebrate is to get out and listen to live music. In addition to the live music and dance mentioned above, multiple St. Patrick's performances are going on over the weekend:

  • Bonnie Celtic Moon - Shanahy in Concert - Alliance Theater, Sunday, March 17, 6 pm
Embark on a Celtic journey with the longest-running Celtic ensemble in the Intermountain West!
  • St. Patrick's Day Celebration at La Caille - featuring Callanish - La Caille, Friday, March 15, 7 pm
Enjoy the music of Callanish, a Celtic band, in the beautiful environs of La Caille. Entry is free with food and drink available for purchase.
  • Taylorsville-SLCC Symphony Orchestra St. Patrick's Concert - Mid-Valley Performing Arts Center - Monday, March 18, 7:30 pm

Lucky 13 Half Marathon - 10K - 5K

Saturday, March 15, 9 am
Gardner Village - 1100 W 7800 S, West Jordan

Before you partake of all that corned beef, cabbage, and green beer, do something healthy: here's your chance to run a race with the Lucky 13 and start enjoying the milder early spring weather while truly getting your steps in. All racers get a green shirt and a green top hat, and the course follows the Jordan River trail.

St. Patrick's Pub Celebrations

Multiple Locations

What's more traditional than a pint of Guinness and some corned beef and cabbage at a good old fashioned Irish Pub? Try the amazing Piper Down Pub or the Leprechaun Inn. How about a bar crawl dedicated to all things Irish? There's the Lucky's St. Patrick's Day Bar Crawl at London Belle, Twist, Boomerang, Quarters, Shades, and Gracies; the Shamrock Stroll also downtown and starting at Dubai Nightclub and Restaurant
