For anyone coming to Salt Lake, we hope to answer concerns you might have regarding what is open, ideas for things to do while you’re here, and safety protocols/travel restrictions.
Utah follows restrictions based on a transmission index with guidelines by county. Salt Lake, as the most populous county in the state, is currently in moderate level of transmission. The mask mandate for the state of Utah expires on April 10, 2021, but will continue in Salt Lake City. If you are traveling to Utah from another U.S. state, there are currently no travel restrictions or quarantine requirements if you are healthy.
Are masks required?
Yes, until April 10, 2021 masks are required in the State of Utah. After that date, Salt Lake City has announced that the mask mandate will remain in place. The CDC recommendation is that face coverings that completely cover the nose and mouth should be worn in public areas where consistent social distancing of at least six feet is not possible, reasonable, or prudent.

Salt Lake is set in an area of great natural beauty, and as such is perfect for vacation activities in wide open spaces, allowing for safe social distancing.
With many city green spaces, neighborhood parks, and hiking/biking trails that lead through the local mountains and canyons, getting outside and seeing nature up close is perfect for a get away vacation. Safety protocols are still recommended for keeping safe distances and wearing masks when social distancing is not possible.
There are over 60 national and state parks within a few hours drive of Salt Lake, making it a perfect place to jump off for a socially distanced get away in beautiful locales.
