Wheeler Historic Farm is a unique site that was acquired by Salt Lake County in 1969 and is the only historic site operated by the County. The Junior League worked with the County to preserve the Farm for the centennial in 1976. The same year it was placed on the National Register of Historic Places. County funds, grant monies and support from the Wheeler Farm Friends keeps the farm up and running. The site is about 75 acres in size and includes a swift moving stream (Walker Ditch-Little Cottonwood Creek) that feeds irrigation ditches on the property and supplies water to two ice ponds. Wheeler Historic Farm is a working farm and museum with a generous amount of open space, picnic facilities and a playground for public enjoyment. The Lawns/Pavilion, Activity Barn, Ice House and Party House are rented for private and public events providing a source of earned revenue. Wheeler Historic Farm operates wagon and cow train rides and the Rosebud Country Store in good weather May - October.
