December 2022 Roundup of New and Notable Restaurants

Salt Lake City is never one to rest on its laurels when it comes to food and drink, and the last three months have been no exception. If it’s been a while since you’ve checked out the latest and greatest changes to our foodie scene, we’ve got just what you need - a recap of some  of the very best new openings in town. Mar | Muntanya  We’d be remiss not to start with this jewel in the glittering crown of the barely opened Hyatt Regency hotel—located right next door to our main offices in SLC. Mar | Muntanya can be found on the sixth floor of the newly minted convention center hotel and the name tells you all you need to know about the menu, translating as “Ocean | Mountain." Overseeing proceedings, chef Ryan Peterson is a returning Utahn and brings with him a wealth of Spanish cooking experience from prior postings around the country. Peterson’s interpretation of the sea and mountain moniker means Northern Spanish cuisine featuring classic dishes such as seafood-strewn paella and fresh oysters topped with beef tartare; as well as more unique Mountain West inflected concoctions like roasted elk tenderloin with Iberico bacon and blackberry jus. The cocktail menu at Mar | Muntanya is also worthy of exploration, headlined by a focus on gin and tonics—as well as a variety of sangria preparations. It’s worth mentioning the dazzling new Hyatt also features a ground floor restaurant (Salt Republic) with plenty of Utah-influenced surprises, as well as a lively cocktail bar (Contribution) on the South East corner of the building, a perfect people watching spot in the heart of the city. 170 S. West Temple Street Salt Lake City, UT 84101 mar-muntanya.com…
