Salt Lake City (April 2022) —Visit Salt Lake is pleased to announce 56 meetings, athletic events, and conventions were booked during the first quarter of 2022. These events will collectively attract over 165,000 attendees who’ll occupy approximately 243,000 hotel room nights spend $161 million while in our community. The largest of these include: 

Applied Superconductivity Conference is a Colorado-based scientific society that advances research and application of materials that conduct electricity. Visit Salt Lake competed against Pittsburgh, Cincinnati and Detroit to secure their 2024 Biennial Conference. This event will attract approximately 1,700 attendees who’ll convene in the Salt Palace Convention Center and spend $1.7 million. Chris Peterson managed this project for Visit Salt Lake. 

Premiere Supercopa is an invitation-only soccer tournament for girls and boys ages 9-12 from across the country. 195 teams will play 456 games in Salt Lake during June 2022. The 14,000 athletes, parents, coaches, and officials will occupy over 16,000 hotel room nights while in our community. Working with the Utah Sports Commission, Clay Partain managed this project for Sports Salt Lake, a division of Visit Salt Lake.    

Holstein Association of America is a Vermont-based trade organization whose mission is to support and promote those involved in breeding, raising, and milking registered Holstein cattle. They selected Salt Lake over Denver and Nashville to host their National Convention which will attract 1,000 attendees in June 2024. Devan Hamilton and Connecticut-based Karen Staples managed this project for Visit Salt Lake.     

USA Volleyball selected Salt Lake over Phoenix and New Orleans to host their ‘Showdown’ tournament in April 2023. 24,000 competitors, coaches, fans, and family members are expected to attend the event, which will take place in the Salt Palace Convention Center. These attendees will occupy approximately 31,000 hotel room nights. Salt Lake was also selected to host USA Volleyball’s Boy’s Junior National Championship in June, 2023. This event will attract 15,000 visitors who’ll occupy approximately 30,000 hotel room nights. Working with the Utah Sports Commission, Clay Partain handled this project for Sports Salt Lake, a division of Visit Salt Lake.        

Nu Skin is a Utah-based company that manufactures and sells health and beauty products. Their America’s Convention will be held at the Salt Palace Convention Center in September 2022. The event is expected to draw 5,000 attendees who’ll occupy 8,100 hotel room nights and spend $4.8 million while in town. Diane Utley handled this project for Visit Salt Lake.    

Educational Testing Services will return to Salt Lake with its Advanced Placement Program in 2024. It’s anticipated that 3,000 people will gather in the Salt Palace Convention Center to review high school students’ scholastic works to identify those who’ll receive advanced collegiate placement. The attendees will fill 23,000 hotel room nights during their ten-day stay. Elke Opsahl and Connecticut-based Karen Staples handled this project for Visit Salt Lake. 

Association of Floodplain Managers selected Salt Lake over Fort Worth to host their 2024 annual convention. 1,200 people from across the country are expected to attend this convention which will take place in the Salt Palace Convention Center. Troy Rushton and Chicago-based Jeff Gassaway handled this project for Visit Salt Lake. 

USA Fencing Association is the Colorado-based national governing body for the sport. After considering numerous other large western cities, they selected Salt Lake to host the 2022 Junior Olympic Championship. This event was held in the Salt Palace in February and attracted 3,300 competitors, coaches, officials, and family members. Clay Partain handled this project for Sports Salt Lake, a division of Visit Salt Lake.             

Triple Crown Sports produces over 200 youth events across the country. Visit Salt Lake worked with Triple Crown to bring their Western Invitational basketball tournament to the Mountain American Expo Center in June 2023. The tournament will draw approximately 7,500 athletes, family members, and officials. An additional 100 college coaches will also be on hand for recruitment scouting. These visitors are expected occupy over 13,000 hotel room nights and spend $7.2 million while in the Sandy area. Chris Robinson handled this project for Sports Salt Lake, a division of Visit Salt Lake.
