Salt Lake City is a great starting point for travelers who want to experience Utah’s famous scenery while keeping vacation costs manageable. The city is known for its outdoor recreational activities and easy access to the state’s surrounding mountains and lakes.

Outdoor enthusiasts can explore Antelope Island State Park, located in the Great Salt Lake, where hiking trails wind past local wildlife, like its famous free-roaming bison herd. A day pass costs $20 per vehicle for out-of-state visitors, making it an affordable way to experience Utah’s natural beauty.

Back in the city, travelers can explore several attractions without spending much. The Utah State Capitol provides free tours and views of the city, and when they’re ready for a break, Liberty Park features a duck pond and picnic areas shaded by mature trees.

Many visitors use Salt Lake City as a starting point for exploring Utah’s iconic national parks, but the city itself offers plenty to enjoy.
