PORTLAND, OREGON (May 7, 2024) – Clay Partain, STS, Executive Director of Sports Salt Lake was elected as Secretary/Treasurer for the Board of Directors by Sports ETA membership here during the annual Sports ETA Symposium. Sports ETA is the trade association for the sports events and tourism industry in America.

Partain has served Visit Salt Lake in a number of leadership roles for nearly a decade. Previously, he worked in the hotel and hospitality industry with Marriott. Partain, a graduate of the University of Iowa, also holds the Sports Tourism Strategist designation from Sports ETA.

“We thank Clay for his commitment and service to our sports events and tourism industry,” said John David, President & CEO of Sports ETA. “As a member of our Executive Committee, I look forward to working with Clay to provide leadership and guidance to our association.”

Sports Salt Lake is a division of Visit Salt Lake (VSL) and is managed by Clay Partain, the Executive Director of Sports Salt Lake. This division’s focus is attracting and managing youth and amateur sports events. Partain has also been newly named VSL’s Chief Sports Officer.
