Water Conservation

Utilize water efficiently through management practices and infrastructure improvements.

Internal Culture:

Water smart practices are brought to staff via education.

Our building infrastructure has waterless urinals (100%), low-flow sinks and toilets (26% of inventory), and drip irrigation (100%) for landscaping.

Landscaping consists of native plants (such as sawgrass and rocky mountain junipers), drought-resistant plants, as well as xeriscaping designs, where possible.

We track consumption, set goals, and assess goal achievement on an annual basis. Since 2008, we have reduced our annual water footprint by over 25% (reducing usage by over 12 million gallons/year).

External Partnerships:

We work with event clients on water management plans and best practices for their event, such as choosing low-water intensive decor or empowering local hotel partners to execute towel reuse programs during the event.

An event’s water use is included in sustainability reporting.

Refillable water stations are available throughout the facilities. This not only helps reduce single-use plastic, but observations show attendees often throw out partially drunk single-use bottles (wasting water).

New Targets:

We have a green cleaning program for housekeeping, but COVID-19 has changed best practices. We are committed to finding environmentally-friendly solutions that can combat the virus effectively.

We want to improve water estimates and tracking for events so that clients can set specific and measurable goals prior to their show and assess achievements.
