We offer weekly Sustainability Tips and Community Partner Updates. This content is built around environmental sustainability, such as The Hive (our beehive newsletter!).
Our two venues partner with Visit Salt Lake, Centerplate, and Encore on sustainable events. These five organizations currently hold four Events Industry Council Sustainable Event Standards (most in the events industry). This has made us one of the world’s most sustainable trade show destinations.
Since 2017, the Green Team and our event partners have diverted over 700,000 lbs of event material and 100,000 meals to community partners (over $1 million of value).
Our Green Team (and much of our convention district) aims for zero waste (Pledge 12: Zero Waste)/zero carbon (Pledge 13: Climate Action) future! We are striving for 2030 for these.
We’ve built an advanced tool for tracking landfill diversion. We aim to design a similar tool for carbon footprint.
We are currently working with hotels and local general service contractors on adding more supplier EIC certifications. We are also the first destination to offer event clients a program to certify their event to sustainability (click here to read more).
