Duration: 4 - 6 hours
Highlights: Tour Humanitarian Center, hands on service project, tour of UT Cultural Celebration Center, Gardner Village
Looking to see and touch the hearts of the world? During the past decade the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has conducted more than 7,500 humanitarian aid projects. In the year 2000 alone the center shipped more than 11 million pounds of clothing! You'll see the vortex of this effort at the Church's Humanitarian Center - a 160,000-square-foot facility from which food, clothing, educational materials and medical supplies are shipped around the world. Not only will you have a complete guided tour of the facility, but you will also have the opportunity to become a part of the operation by participating in a small hands-on service project. The experience continues at the Utah Cultural Celebration Center. This lovely 60-acre compound celebrates cultural traditions originating from around the globe - preserving talents in music, dance, performance and visual arts. At the conclusion of this tour continue your search for a rich cultural experience at Gardner Village. Amid the warm and rustic atmosphere of Gardner Village, you can hear whispers and see glimpses of the past. This once productive flourmill was originally home to early Utah pioneers and now houses Country Furniture & Gifts and Archibald's Restaurant. Enjoy a brief historic tour of the village and free time to experience the rich culture and fantastic shopping. Each shop is a restored pioneer cabin or building that charms you with vintage pioneer architecture and antique fixtures while providing the latest in home furnishings, fashions, art, jewelry and more!
