Writing Workshop: Air Quality

NKenna O. will lead a four week writing workshop about Air Quality. Through a series of writing workshops and residencies conducted by professional writers, adults and teens can develop and polish their writing skills, as well as share their voices and perspectives with the wider community. Residencies are held at partner venues where people with disabilities live or gather. Workshops are conducted at Art Access and often culminate with scheduled readings.Art Access serves a diverse clientele. She has taught English courses and courses on social justice at the U, Salt Lake Community College, and Westminster College. She moved to Salt Lake over 7.5 years ago as an Americorps VISTA for the SLCC Community Writing Center and currently works as the Outreach Coordinator for Write Here, Westminster College’s community writing center that provides free writing assistance to people and organizations in South Salt Lake.Kenna facilitated two book groups for Art Access in 2017: The Shadow of the Hummingbird and Things I Should Have Told My Daughter: Lies, Lessons & Love Affairs. She is excited to continue a partnership with Art Access by facilitating a 4-part workshop series on air quality. As an avid, yearlong cyclist (just a commuter who loves the occasional group ride—nothing too competitive!) Kenna is looking forward to working with community members on writing and composing in a way that has their voices heard on the issue of air quality and other environmental issues affecting the Salt Lake Valley.
