Walkfifty is a 50-mile/20-hour walk starting near the Great Salt Lake and ending at the Utah Lake. It started simply as a personal challenge for Bryan Miller and has since become a fully supported charitable fundraiser with more than a half-dozen rest stops and several mobile support vehicles. Proceeds from the walk benefit 100% of Humanity, a nonprofit foundation dedicated to making the world work for everyone. WalkFifty is open to anyone up for a transformational journey that is both mental and physical.More than just a charity event, WalkFifty creates an opportunity to build on the three tenets of: Knowledge: The event is physically and mentally challenging, requiring you to reach deep within yourself, with moments of intense introspection. Pushing yourself to your physical limits (and beyond), teaches profound lessons and provides a rare glimpse of nobility. Relationships: 20-hours of walking builds camaraderie. With that much time to talk and philosophize, conversations span a broad range of topics. Friendships are created that are deep and meaningful. Start by the Great Salt Lake as a loose band of acquaintances; end by Utah Lake as a unified band of brothers and sisters. Experiences: Very few attempt this challenge – even fewer complete it. Bragging rights are on the line. Those who participate have a new found respect for pioneers, refugees and others who have walked long distances. The experience is transformational and life-changing.
