Veronica Swift

Mon, Mar 25
  • 50 W 200 S, Salt Lake City, UT 84101
The buzz-worthy 22-year-old vocalist set the jazz world on fire after her second-place finish at the 2015 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition, in which she wowed judges Dee Dee Bridgewater, Al Jarreau and Patti Austin. The child of jazz vocalist Stephanie Nakasian and the late bebop pianist Hod O’Brien, Veronica has already appeared at Lincoln Center, Telluride Jazz Festival, Blues Alley, and Birdland, performing with John Pizzarelli, Esperanza Spalding, and Joe Lovano. Don’t miss this young star on the rise, forging a path as jazz superstar in the making. Swift will join jazz veteran Benny Green and his trio for a very special evening. When the legendary pianist and composer was Swift’s age, he was a protege of some of the true icons of jazz: Art Blakey, Ray Brown, Betty Carter, and Freddie Hubbard. Green toured and recorded extensively with them before moving on to become a leader of his own celebrated trio, a band he continues to lead today.
