The Spike That Changed Everything: An Exhibit Celebrating 150 Years of Railroad Adventures in Utah

Sun, Apr 21
  • Presented By: Salt Lake City Public Library
  • at: Salt Lake City Public Library (Main Branch)
The completion of the Transcontinental Railroad forever changed life in Utah.  Isolated communities became bustling towns with access to mineral wealth, abundant agricultural resources, developing industries, and fantastic natural wonders.  The books, periodicals, and ephemera on display celebrate Utah’s place in this transformation.  The model trains, loaned by City Library staff members and local train enthusiasts, remind us of our shared fascination for all things railroad-related.   The exhibit will run from Friday, February 15 to Friday, April 26, 2019 in the Special Collections Reading Room of the Main Library, Salt Lake City Public Library.
