Rising young conductor, Bo Wu returns to SLC for a concert of Romantic favorites. Some of the finest melodists in the classical world will be featured. Schubert’s Overture to Die Zauberharfe, also known as Rosamunde, bridges the gap of classical form and romantic expression with soaring melodies and a thrilling climax. Smetana’s Moldau, long a concert favorite, expresses the love the composer had for his native Bohemia. The music takes us on a journey down the Vtlava River, from its source to its convergence with the Elbe. Along the way we meet the people and the legends it inspired. We end with Tchaikovsky’s Fourth. This powerful symphony contains all the pathos imaginable, as the composer searches for an answer to the “grip of fate.” A very personal journey, Tchaikovsky’s music nonetheless touches everyone with deep questions and a thrilling conclusion: Live Life!  So, take Tchaikovsky’s advice and live your life by attending this thrilling program!
