Love & Landscape is an oil painting exhibition by local artist, Jan Perkins, in The Old Echo Church in historic Echo, Utah in conjunction with the 150 Year Anniversary of the Golden Spike Celebration. These paintings depict my love of the land and rural beauty of Eastern Summit County.  I care very deeply about preservation of our unique rural character and beauty.  I have spent much time and effort in the last few years doing all I can to preserve, protect, and raise awareness of the innate beauty of our county and all our natural assets, such as clean water, and wildlife habitat and historic farms and ranches.  I believe that beauty, and the preservation of beauty, supports the wellbeing of everyone.  I feel that when we experience beauty, our hearts open, our bodies calm down, it helps us feel connected to wholeness and goodness of life.“When I am out on the land, in the presence of nature, of animals, of a certain kind of light, I am immediately restored to peace, to wholeness, to an indescribable calm.  For me, these experiences are nothing less than sacred.  I strive to create paintings that reflect my experience.”The painting exhibition is open to the public May 7 to May 12 at various times. On the morning of May 8, the oil painting exhibition will be open to the public from 8am until 6pm. The "Big Boy Train" arrives in Echo at 8:30 am on May 8th.
