LOUD: A POC Art Showcase

    “Art is our weapon. Culture is a form of resistance.” –Shirin Neshat.The Urban Arts Gallery presents “LOUD!” A collection of artwork created by local artists of color. Guest curated by @Esther Aboussou Shaw and @Meli Rino Alvarez this exhibit will hang October 6th - November 1st with a gallery stroll reception taking place on October 16th.Admission is free and open to the public. While the gallery stroll is a physical event, A pre-recorded video featuring selected artists and local musicians will be available to view online.Being unapologetically LOUD! is about making noise and taking up space. We believe that art is not just a creative outlet. It is also a form of resistance and activism. The artists featured in this showcase are incredibly diverse in terms of their chosen mediums. With this exhibit we seek to highlight the many talents of Salt Lake City’s BIPOC community.Featured artists include Alli Arocho, Pedro Hueramo Rico, Alyana Desouza, IZ (Isabella Morillo), Emilio Martinez, Melissa Kamba, Xolani G. Radebe, Uwana Eshiet, Alicia Cicalese, Ashley Odiilia, Alethia Lunares, Will Knight, Luis Novoa, Jessica Villeneuve, Quinci Hambrick (Indigo Sketches), Andrea Hardeman, and Amelec Diaz.Featured Musicians Include: Marina Marqueza, Mana Eini and Shea Freedom
