Could you survive for one month in poverty? Participate in an immersive poverty simulation to find out, and change the way you think about poverty forever. Based on real people and real experiences, the poverty simulation is designed to help participants begin to understand what it might be like to live in a low-income family trying to survive from month to month. The object is to sensitize participants to the realities faced by low-income people. Come hear from and connect with elected officials, business and community leaders, and academic experts who are already making practical, effective solutions that create better opportunities for people to obtain financial stability in Utah.We encourage friends, neighbors, business leaders and company staff, community partners, advocates, and elected officials to join us to foster connection and collaboration throughout the community. Anyone from the general public may attend and volunteer!Keynote speakers include: Utah County Commissioner Amelia Gardner; Melissa Freigang, Founding Director of the Weber Prosperity Center of Excellence; Dr. Ben Gibbs, Associate Professor of Sociology at BYU; and Dave Moody, Director of Finance and Analytics at Henry Schein One.
