“Hundred Years Hence,” Deseret Experimental Opera's newest production, continues our tradition of telling local stories and history. This opera is based on the true story of Elsie Pirath, a visually impaired state fair folk art blue ribbon prize winner immigrant from Denmark. Elsie spent many of her years living in the Marmalade neighborhood of Salt Lake City, where she built a community around her and found a sense of belonging. Audience members will be guided through Elsie’s life through an immersive auditory, visual, and tactile experience that connects our past to our present.
