Come learn the art of embroidery! This is an intermediate workshop to teach you how to level up your skills with this fun craft. Previous needlework experience is recommended as we dive into some more complex stitches and shapes. For this session, we’ll focus on botanicals: stems, flowers, and leaves.Instruction will be provided on how to transfer designs to fabric, choose fabrics, create a variety of stitches, add dimension through color and thread variety, and learn to finish off your project with different display methods. You will likely not finish the project in class (as it takes several hours), but you will be equipped with all the knowledge and skills to finish your project on your own. Each student can choose one letter for their pattern, or a botanical collage heart. All letters will be capitalized. You can also choose if you want your background fabric to be black or white. Keep in mind, if you choose black, you will be stitching through an extra layer because we’ll add a sticker paper to the top of your fabric. Stitching through the white fabric is simpler, but the black backing has a nice contrasting effect. All the materials you will need are included in the workshop and you can take them all home, so you have everything you need to do another embroidery project! All materials are included and the following are yours to take home: fabric, 7 skeins of embroidery floss, needle, embroidery hoop, heat erasable pen (or water dissolvable sticker paper), paper bobbins, mini embroidery scissors, and a digital PDF guide to refresh your mind on the stitches after class.
