The SOHO Food Park: It's as Much Fun as It Sounds

Thursday September 3, 2015

Shelly Olsen and her husband Mark have been enamored with the food-truck movement since its beginnings, and they've even traveled across the country on a coast-to-coast food-truck culinary tour. In July of 2015, they shared their obsession by opening a dedicated place for Salt Lake's food trucks to congregate: the SOHO Food Park, located on 4747 South Holladay Boulevard.

Only two months in, SOHO is already making a big impact in the Salt Lake food scene. It's currently the only year-round, permanent food-truck park in the city, offering seating for over 100 people. It's open Monday through Saturday from 5 to 10 p.m. and features a different food-truck lineup each day—no matter when you stop by, you'll find a broad selection of mobile menu items to satisfy all appetites. Shelly and Mark are devoted to providing the best possible experience for patrons and supporting trucks run by true chefs and artists, so they screen and interview each truck prior to accepting them into the park.

SOHO Park has caught on quickly and is continually abuzz with happy diners. It's a great place for the community to gather (the park has power, which means there are no loud generators competing with your conversation). It's a smart way to satisfy diverse dinnertime palates (which is probably why it's so popular with families). It's a break from the usual dinner routine or date night. And it provides a chance to sample some of the best food Salt Lake is serving up.
