Salt Lake's SLUG Magazine Celebrates 23 Years
SLUG (SaltLake UnderGround) Magazine will be celebrating 23 years of much appreciated local music coverage with its Blue Dress Birthday Bash this Friday February 17, 2012. The party will be held at The Woodshed (60 East 800 South) near downtown Salt Lake City, and there's an interesting, very SLUG-esque twist. You must, I mean MUST, wear a blue dress to be admitted entrance to the party. For those of you without a trusty blue dress in hand, sponsor Consignment Circuit will be selling some of their best at the door ($5). You may ask why the strange clothing request, but there's an interesting reason to require such a dress code.
A portion of the event proceeds will be donated to Volunteers of America's Transitional Home for Young Men, a new home for Utah's homeless, an often overlooked social problem. So if you aren't comfortable wearing a blue dress, hopefully you'll join the party in the spirit of charity! Local artists DJ Godina, Palace of Buddies, and God's Revolver will be playing sweet tunes all night long clad in their own blue dresses.
Bottom Line: Five dollars at the door—and your prettiest blue dress—gets you in to see some great local music and supports homeless youth in Utah. And there's going to be a special surprise at midnight... This is an event not be missed! Sponsored by PBR & Consignment Circuit.
