Salt Lake 200
It's a tough job, but someone's gotta do it: for the next month, I'm on a mission to find out just how much fun two people can have on $200. In the upcoming weeks, I (along with a few willing accomplices) will be exploring the pretty fantastic opportunities we have here in SLC, from outdoor recreation and live music to museums and restaurants. Some of it's free, some might be a splurge, and there's lots in-between...
Day 1: Mountain Biking and Himalayan Kitchen
Biked part of the Bonneville Shoreline Trail today, starting from Dry Creek. It was a beautiful sunny day here in the valley, and I had to get outside. There are numerous ways to access this trail, which is great for hiking as well as biking, and since it's within a quick drive from anywhere in downtown SLC, an outing can be as short or long as you'd like. Click on the link for trailhead details.
Afterward, I met up with a friend for Himalayan Kitchen's all-you-can-eat lunch buffet - perfect for an after-ride meal. Himalayan Kitchen is in its new location at 361 S State St - the building may be new, but the faces were familiar. I love the friendly vibe here - it's tempting to linger over lunch while sipping warm Nepalese tea. The food is delicious, with plenty of options for both vegetarians and meat eaters.
Total Cost: Mountain Biking = FREE + Lunch ($27.57 (including tip)) = $27.57
Remaining Fun Budget: $172.43
