Get involved at The Utah Museum of Fine Arts
Admission, which is free for kids under six, $5 for ages 6-18 and $7 for adults, lets you browse the museum to your "art's" content. The UMFA even offers families free family backpacks that you can check out and contain activities, games and puzzles to guide you on your exploration of the collections.
SassyScoops.com featured the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on its website last year the week of December 14th. Our families were taken on a short tour of the museum and we were surprised to see the variety of pieces and styles represented. After exploring, we were able to take part in the UMFA's Free Third Saturday activity, which all the kids thoroughly enjoyed. Who knew the fine art of printing was so cool!
Free Third Saturday is the museum's free activity day (year round) designed for children ages 4 to 12 on the 3rd Saturday of every month. The hands on activities run from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.. No reservation is required but participation is on a first come, first serve basis so get there early!
Thanks to the Zoo, Arts and Parks Fun, the UMFA also has a Free First Wednesday when the museum opens its doors to Utah residents free of charge on the first Wednesday of each month. For more information on Third Saturday activities and Free First Wednesday visit the Calendar & Events page on the UMFA website.
If you need a little extra culture in your lives (and who doesn't?) visit the Utah Museum of Fine Arts at the University of Utah's Marcia & John Price Museum Building, 410 Campus Center Drive in Salt Lake City.
You can also get a little UMFA culture by following them on Twitter (@umfa) or becoming a fan of the Utah Museum of Fine Arts on Facebook.
