First Night Salt Lake!

THE DOWNTOWN ALLIANCE


...has put together the largest new-year's celebration in Salt Lake history to ensure anybody in Salt Lake passes it well. Simply put, you'll have something to see, do, experience, enjoy, and watch from 3:00 in the afternoon to midnight at several venues. First Night Salt Lake will be the party of the year. I recommend visiting the official website for all the details of the night's events: www.firstnightslc.org. But here is a quick list for those short on time:

AT THE GALLIVAN CENTER


WISDOM - Artist, Norton Wisdom performs live art on backlit canvases. The act is set to music.



COUNTDOWN STAGE - Live music and DJs form 6:00 PM to Midnight.

LOCALMOTION STAGE - Live performances, from dancing to hypnotism and everything in between.

OTHER VENUES AND ACTIVITIES AT THE GALLIVAN CENTER INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING:

STAGE ABLAZE, UpROK TENT, THE ART LOUNGE, THE GREAT GOLDEN HIVE, ICE SKATING, INSTALLATIONS OF INTERACTIVE RITUAL SPACE, AND FIREWORKS!


AT THE GATEWAY


DISCOVERY GATEWAY - Great for the kids!

CLARK PLANETARIUM - Discounts on cosmic shows all day long!

THE GRAND HALL - Interative art in the historic Union Square Depot.

AT THE LEONARDO


LEONARDO'S FIRST NIGHT BASH - Family-friendly indoor celebration featuring everything from live dancing to Body World 3 exhibit.

AT TEMPLE SQUARE


ASSEMBLY HALL - Seven different entertainment events planned from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

JOSEPH SMITH MEMORIAL BUILDING - Eleven different events running from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM.

EVENT DETAILS


RULES - First night 2009 is an alcohol-free community event. No cameras, recording devices, or video equipment are allowed in performance locations unless authorized in writing by the management of First Night. Bags and backpacks are subject to search for security purposes.

INCLEMENT WEATHER - No worries! First Night Salt Lake comes but once a year and will happen under all elements.



Remember that all metered parking downtown is free for the holidays. There will be plenty of traffic, so please allow yourself plenty of time for maneuvering and parking during your travels. Drive safely and responsibly.
