FamilySearch Continues to Add New Genealogy Records

Salt Lake is home to the Family Search Center, the largest genealogical database in the world. For more on researching Genealogy in Salt Lake, click here.

The record collection held by the Family History Library in Salt Lake City (and the granite vault!) can be hard to grasp simply because of the volume of records and the speed with which they are added.  Volunteers are key to their success and the following press release from the folks at FamilySearch (the online arm of the Family History Library) gives us a good taste of what those volunteers are accomplishing. All of this hard work benefits all family historians. Here's the latest on new and completed projects and where current projects stand:

First Indexing Project from Dominican Republic Now Available

Spanish-speaking indexers have some exciting new work to do, including the first set of records from the Dominican Republic, as well as records from Spain and Mexico. There is also a variety of new U.S. projects available. The recently completed projects that will soon be available to search include the 1930 U.S. Census for five states and records from Canada, Mexico, England, and Puerto Rico.

New Projects in the Past Month

(See the chart below for a complete list and current status of all indexing projects.)

Recently Completed Projects

(Note: Recently completed projects have been removed from the available online indexing batches and will now go through a final completion check process. They will be published at beta.familysearch.org in the near future.)
