The Sundance Film Festival is the largest and most well-known independent film festival based in the United States, and has been based in Utah for more than 40 years. The best talent and creative minds in the filmmaking world have taken part in the Festival in one way or another, and literally tens of thousands of people attend the Festival and come to the screenings each year.

Going Virtual

Traditionally held in January, the 2022 Sundance Film Festival was planning a return to live screenings, but due to the COVID surge it will be held almost entirely as a virtual event, as it was in 2021.

For only the second time ever you can view worldwide premieres, see talks from filmmakers, and participate live in other Sundance events from the comfort of your living room, during the Festival dates of January 20-30, 2022.

Tickets and Screenings

Passes and tickets are available in a variety of options and prices, ranging from tickets for a single film, to day passes, to full festival passes, and other options in between. Be aware that the films are only available in the U.S., and tickets are limited. For locals, there are free screenings for a selection of films through Sundance's Local Lens program, as well as free Best of Fest screenings. There are also discounted access single tickets for locals after the 26th, and Ignite Day, providing opportunities for young adults between 18-25.

The Festival Village and How to Fest

Also available is the Festival Village - the virtual place to go to participate in free events, talks, and sponsored experiences, and these features are available globally. Lastly, some films will be screened live in independent art theaters and pop-ups throughout the U.S. with Sundance's Satellite Screens.

We'll miss having the Festival live in Utah for 2022, but we're excited to see what Sundance has to offer this year!

To see how you can participate, check out the Festival’s “How To Fest” page.
