Cafe Trang

Friday February 11, 2011
Café Trang is a wonderful restaurant in downtown Salt Lake City, sitting at the base of the Crane Building. I have been going to Café Trang for more than 10 years and I adore this place.

Feeding businessmen and families alike, their food is always wonderful and their staff always very kind. Café Trang is known for their Vietnamese food, though they serve Chinese and Thai food as well. Their menu is very diverse with dished from soups to noodles to curry. From offering all types of meat to a great vegetarian variety, everything I have tried is amazing and everything I have not tried, looks amazing!

I have been to Café Trang many times and recently ordered their special lunch combo menu for the first time. At $7.99, you get a lot of food for your money. This includes either Hot & Sour Soup or Egg Flower Soup, Rice and a choice of two entrée items. I chose the Egg Flower Soup with the Honey Glazed Pork and the Caramel Ginger Chicken.

The Egg Flower Soup was good as always, one of my favorite soups. I was a little skeptical ordering something with ginger in it because I am not normally a big ginger fan, but this dish was perfect. You could taste the ginger though it was not overwhelming. There were whole pieces of the ginger in the sauce, and that went really well with the dish. The Honey Glazed Pork was great as well. This entree was very different from the Caramel Ginger Chicken, though they paired well together.

With four locations in the Salt Lake area, there are many opportuntiies to experience this fabulous restaurant. Trust me - once you try Café Trang, you will go back many times and for many years to come. I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for a great meal and a great food experience!
