Salt Lake City’s 10 Best Events and Festivals in Summer 2014

Published: 06/23/2014

Salt Lake City, the capital of Utah, is full of intriguing art and culture events this summer. From new museum exhibitions to jazz and art festivals, as well as historical reenactments of Utah’s past, there is a wealth of opportunities to discover the region’s diverse culture and heritage. We bring you our top ten art and culture events in Salt Lake City this summer.

Art | Butterfly Jewellery with Zell Lee of Asana Natural Arts

Opens 4 June

Located at the Natural History Museum of Utah, local jewellery maker Zell Lee is running a workshop on how to make unique and natural jewelry from insect wings. As part of the Craft Lake City Artist Workshop Series this summer, Zell Lee is offering to teach guests how to make their own pair of earrings, necklaces or any kind of piece of jewellery from beetle and butterfly wings. Although it might at first sound unethical, the practice is sustainable thanks to Zell Lee’s role as the owner of Asana Natural Arts, a business that works with butterfly preservation groups and only collects wings when butterflies die naturally.
