SALT LAKE CITY (March 25, 2015) – During Visit Salt Lake’s annual meeting held March 19 at the Salt Palace Convention Center, Eddie Canaday, Director of Convention Sales based in Visit Salt Lake’s Washington, D.C.’s satellite office, was presented the ninth annual Dianne Nelson Binger Sales Leadership Award.
“Eddie had a great year, and represented Salt Lake incredibly well in our nation’s capital,” said Mark H. White, Visit Salt Lake’s Vice President of Sales. “Eddie produced sales leads for various Salt Lake hotels totaling more than 324,000 potential future room nights, and he was instrumental in confirming more than 82,000 room nights.”
Canaday joined the VSL sales team in 2009 and is responsible for generating meeting and convention business from the Washington, D.C. are, where the vast majority of the nation’s associations are based. “Eddie’s success is due to his extensive client relationships, a strategic yet creative sales approach, and a lot of pleasant persistence,” added White.
The Dianne Nelson Binger Sales Leadership Award is presented to Visit Salt Lake’s top sales person in honor of Dianne Binger, a tireless advocate for Salt Lake and the state. Binger exemplified the traits of a successful sales person and served Visit Salt Lake—then the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau—and the community for 18 years, becoming President and CEO in 2001. A great leader and mentor, Binger sadly lost her long battle with cancer in March 2005.
