By Kathy Stephenson, The Salt Lake Tribune -- Another vodka maker is setting up shop in Utah.

This time it’s Salt City Vodka, which will produce spirits at a facility in Midvale.

On Tuesday, the state liquor commission granted a manufacturing license to Salt City Vodka’s parent company, Elevation Distilling.

Owners Aaron Ilott and Jesse Farrer, both Utah natives, hope to have the first batch of Salt City Vodka on liquor store shelves by June. A 750-ml bottle will cost about $20, they said.

Utah now has six distilleries.

High West Whiskey, which has distilleries in Park City and Salt Lake City, and Utah’s Own in Ogden were the state’s first.

But in the last few months, two new Salt Lake City operations also have received manufacturing licenses: Sugar House Distillery, which plans to make vodka; and Beehive Distillery, which plans to produce high-end gin.
