Salt Lake City (July 2019)—Visit Salt Lake (VSL) recently appointed Teri Klug its Director of Community Outreach, a newly-created position to enhance the organization’s mission and activities to diverse audiences throughout Salt Lake County. In her new role, Klug will also advise VSL’s CEO and Board of Directors on policy issues and current events that will help grow the impact of the visitor economy in Salt Lake County, as well as assist stakeholders develop strategies to leverage positive messaging to increase the visitor economy’s impact in the areas of economic and workforce development, a key objective of the community-led Project Blueprint.

Klug brings a wealth of experience to the VSL team, the last five years of which she owned and operated a business consulting firm. Prior to that she served as Director of Strategic Development for EDCUtah, where she provided project management and oversight to create over 17,000 new jobs while adding billions in capital investment dollars to boost economic development throughout the state. Her work in multiple industries—including real estate, IT, energy, government, architecture, financial services and venture capital—and exposure to all aspects of business has shaped a unique perspective and service model that lifts companies striving to hit their targets in a hypercompetitive environment.

Prior to relocating to Utah in 2009, Klug served as President and Founder of Bronte Productions in Richmond, VA, an in-house consultancy firm specializing in connecting teams and creating proposals for both State and Federal Historic Tax Credit Incentives, and projects using PPEA legislation; created opportunities in real estate development and provided full-service marketing and business development for an architecture firm; served as a U.S. Congressional Liaison Officer and Operations and Planning Specialist for FEMA; Education Division Manager for a financial investment firm in Sydney, Australia; Venue Operations Manager for the Sydney Olympic Organizing Committee for the 2000 Summer Games; Vice President of Business Development for Dardick Technology; and while attending the University of Utah served the State of Utah in flood mitigation.

Klug is a graduate of the University of Utah, and has served on Salt Lake City’s Transportation and Planning Committee; the Salt Lake County Board of Adjustment; currently serves on the College of Social and Behavioral Science Board at the University of Utah; and serves as Secretary to the Board of the Children’s Justice Center Friends Board. She continues her involvement with the Urban Land Institute, where in Richmond she served as a Member of the Executive Committee, and creator of the Young Leader’s Program. She is a Licensed Real Estate Agent and has successfully completed Certified Commercial Investment Member (CCIM) Financial Analysis training. Teri loves the outdoors, was a professional figure skater, has completed seven marathons and one half Ironman.
