Salt Lake City (February 18, 2021) — Visit Salt Lake (VSL) has appointed Karen Boe as Vice President of Communications & Public Relations, a position newly-created to more fully fulfill VSL’s mission to membership, stakeholders and the community.

In her new role, Boe will lead VSL messaging and storytelling efforts, targeting international, national, regional and local audiences with a focus on productive markets for leisure travel, meetings and conventions. Boe and her team will work to heighten VSL’s brand through internal and external communications, collaborate with major partners, and deliver professional media relations support to meetings and conventions.

Over the last 16 years as a consultant to VSL, Boe provided local and regional communications for Visit Salt Lake; engineered major announcements such as the convention hotel groundbreaking, Salt Palace solar array installation and expansion; and managed local media relations for dozens of top conventions annually including USANA, doTERRA and Outdoor Retailer.

With energy, drive and enthusiasm for the mission of VSL and a keen understanding of the extraordinary challenges the global pandemic brought to the convention and tourism industry, she is in a unique position to lead communications efforts out of crisis into revitalization. "We are moving forward to create new opportunities while continuing to offer exceptional value for our membership and community,” said Boe. “I’m so proud to have the chance to work with my colleagues at Visit Salt Lake in a more meaningful and robust role."
