SALT LAKE CITY - Mayor Ralph Becker formally announced today Salt Lake City's effort to adopt the most comprehensive sustainability ordinances in the country.

When fully adopted, the new comprehensive sustainability ordinance will be the first of its kind in the country. The 10 key areas addressed by the Sustainability Ordinance are:

- Climate Change and Air Quality
- Alternative Energy Production/Conservation
- Urban Forestry
- Community Health and Safety
- Recycling and Waste Reduction
- Water Quality and Conservation
- Mobility and Transportation
- Housing Accessibility and Diversity
- Food Production and Nutrition
- Open Space, Parks and Trails
