Salt Lake City -- U.S. Secretary of Transportation Ray LaHood, South Salt Lake Mayor Cherie Wood, Salt Lake City Mayor Ralph Becker, and the Utah Transit Authority will hold an event on the Sugar House Streetcar project on Wednesday, October 27 at 2:30 p.m. MDT. Last week, the U.S. Department of Transportation awarded the Utah Transit Authority $26 million for the Sugar House Streetcar project through the Transportation Investment Generating Economic Recovery (TIGER) II program. The project will include a two-mile, modern streetcar line between an urban arterial route, 2100 South, and Interstate 80.
