The Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau recently announced the appointment of Shawn Stinson as Director of Communications, responsible for overseeing all aspects of the organization’s communications programs.

Prior to joining the Salt Lake Convention & Visitors Bureau (SLCVB), Stinson spent almost two years with the Economic Development Corporation of Utah (EDCUTAH), whose mission it is to serve as a catalyst for increased capital investment and quality job growth in Utah. Before EDCUTAH, Stinson logged more than 20 years in the travel and tourism industry, primarily in the Park City area (Park City Ski Area, Deer Valley Resort, Park City Chamber & Visitors Bureau and Premier Resorts). While at the Park City Chamber/Bureau, one of his primary roles was the creation, production and management of the Park City Media Center during the 2002 Olympic Winter Games.

“With Shawn’s extensive background in tourism and public relations, combined with his obvious passion for the outdoors, I’m confident he will add a great deal of awareness to the marketing efforts of Salt Lake,” said Scott Beck, president & CEO of the SLCVB. “By conveying Salt Lake’s message and its strengths to potential visitors and convention attendees, Salt Lake will continue to grow in popularity and heighten its position as a world-class destination.”

“Shawn’s abilities, passion and understanding of the economic impact tourism plays, not only in Salt Lake and along the Wasatch Front but the state as a whole, makes him perfectly suited to fill that critical position for the CVB,” added Jeff  Edwards, president and CEO of EDCUTAH.  “The Salt Lake CVB is an important partner of EDCUTAH and plays an active role in the success of Utah’s future, working in conjunction with various organizations to promote the many attributes of our state, attributes that will attract both visitors and businesses to Utah.”
