By Matt Alderton, Successful Meetings — Whether you want to see a hit Broadway musical or host a private group event, Utah's capital city has a new cultural venue in which you can do it: the George S. and Dolores Doré Eccles Theater, which opened last week in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City.

The new venue includes the 2,500-seat Delta Performance Hall, which features unique lighting inspired by a starlit Utah canyon, and the 150-seat, multi-use Black Box theater, which will cater to local performances and community events.

Expected to receive Gold level LEED-certification, the theater also has an onsite restaurant, Encore Bistro, and numerous private event spaces that can be reserved for groups of 10 to 350, including its six-story lobby with retractable glass walls that can be opened to the plaza outside.

"The Eccles Theater is a beautiful and welcomed addition to our thriving downtown cultural district," said Visit Salt Lake President and CEO Scott Beck. "In addition to it being a beautiful building, its expected LEED certification shows a continuation of our destination's commitment to sustainability."
