Kennecott Utah Copper is closing its popular visitors center at Bingham Canyon Mine for the entirety of 2013 after mine personnel discovered movement in a northeastern wall.

"Due to our continuous geotechnical monitoring during the winter months, we did notice some slope movement," said Kennecott Utah Copper spokesman Kyle Bennett. "Our employees and visitors are first priority with regard to safety."

Scheduled to open on Monday, the visitors center instead will remain closed until 2014.
