However, we’re happy to report that’s not the case—yes, you can get drunk in Utah. Here are a couple of spots in the Salt Lake City/Park City area worth their weight in liquid gold.

This homegrown brewery and restaurant is a must-visit on your next Utah trip, and it's adorably close to the huge LDS Temple. Most of the beers are named after nearby places, including Provo Girl, Big Cottonwood, and Utah Crimson. We highly recommend the French Connection, made from a special hybrid kind of hops that you can only get at this establishment. Good news for people stranded in SLC Airport because of inclement weather: There’s a Squatters there, too, and it has an alcohol license.

This old-school ski lodge likes to hang on to its special brand of retro charm: There are family-style meals, no TVs, and there's zero snowboarding allowed. The resort recently celebrated its 75th anniversary, and to mark the occasion, they created their very own brew. They partnered with Wasatch (see below) on a custom blend that evokes Alta’s warm, homey environment. The packaging’s pretty cute, too.

If you like your drink with a heavy side of humor, then you’ll love Wasatch, whose motto is “still drinking our share and selling the rest.” Wasatch has the honor of being the first pub established in Utah after Prohibition ended, and they make the most of their vanguard reputation. The brews have tongue-in-cheek names like Polygamy Porter, 1st Amendment Lager, and Chasing Tail Ale. If you can’t choose one, they’ll sell you a mixed 6 or 12 pack.
