Salt Lake City (July 7, 2021) —

Clay Partain, Managing Director of Sports Salt Lake, was recently selected to serve on the Sports Events & Tourism Association (ETA) Board of Directors. As the non-profit 501(c)3 trade association for the sports events and tourism industry in the United States, Sports ETA is an essential resource for sports commissions, sports destinations, sports event owners and industry partners.

Partain oversees Visit Salt Lake’s recently launched sports sales and marketing division, Sports Salt Lake. The focus on the continued growth of this multi-billion-dollar segment of the nation’s tourism industry represents a rapidly expanding portion of Salt Lake’s visitor economy. Partain has helped Visit Salt Lake’s sports sales rise from a relatively small market space to a significant portion of total production. In the last three years Sports Salt Lake has booked 88 sport-related events that are projected to attract 420,000-plus event attendees, with a collective direct spend of more than $151 million while in Salt Lake.

“I am so passionate about this industry and am honored to have been chosen for this prestigious board,” said Partain. “This is an incredible opportunity to sit alongside some of the top sports tourism influencers in the US.” Partain’s term on the Sports ETA Board will run through 2024.
