Salt Lake City (May 2009)-Clark Planetarium, located in the Gateway Shopping Center in the heart of downtown Salt Lake, is a premiere destination for people interested in space exploration, an attraction that creates and presents enlightening experiences that inspire wonder in learning about space and science. Clark Planetarium has activities for all ages, with opportunities for those with varying interests. It is home to the Hansen Dome Theater, the first pit-less digital dome theater in the U.S., as well as an ATK I-MAX Theater dedicated to providing educational science and nature-based films. The Planetarium also presents a number of Cosmic Light Shows, musical tributes to some of rock's legendary bands. In addition to its various theaters, the Planetarium also presents numerous exhibits, special engagements, concessions and a science store.
The education department at Clark Planetarium serves over 100,000 school children a year through its shows and statewide traveling science education programs. Outreach programs include auditorium programs, star parties and various showcases.
Convenient underground parking is located at the Gateway, and Clark Planetarium validates parking for its patrons. The Planetarium is open seven days a week, from 10:30 a.m. to the beginning of the last film of the day.
