Gallivan Center Ice RinkSalt Lake City, UT - You know winter is here when the Gallivan Center Ice Rink opens for the season. The newly renovated ice rink is 50 percent larger than the old rink and is a quite a bit flashier due to a new light system that changes the ice different colors while skating, concession area with fresh baked food and more.

The Gallivan Center underwent renovation in 2010-11 relocating the ice rink, which now faces north to south and is now ground level. A concession area was included as part of the renovation and is located next to the skate rental. Concessions served include pizza, churros, nachos, hot chocolate, fresh cookies and more. Weekly specials will soon be added to the menu. "People are sure to be pleasantly surprised with the additions made to the ice rink and the Plaza," said Talitha Day, Gallivan Center Director.

The Gallivan Center, located in the heart of downtown Salt Lake City, is a unique venue for a myriad of events including concerts, exhibits, fairs, weddings, ice skating and more.  Many events are put on by local groups and organizations renting the plaza, while others are programmed by The Gallivan Center itself.

The newly renovated Gallivan Center features a more user-friendly layout with an expanded grass area for better concert seating and summer picnicking, an updated ice rink system and a new, two-story building that houses 45 permanent restrooms, equipment storage and a large, glass-enclosed banquet and meeting space.
