Genealogy Genealogy The Family History Library was founded in 1894 and is the largest library of its kind in the world. The Library houses:

  • Over 2.4 million rolls of microfilmed genealogical records
  • 742,000 microfiche
  • 310,000 books, serials, and other formats
  • 4,500 periodicals

  • Records in over 110 countries, territories, and possessions have been filmed
  • Currently 242 cameras are microfilming records in over 40 countries
  • The library provides 202 computers, hundreds of microfilm and microfiche readers, and copiers
  • Regular orientation classes and specialized research classes are available for groups and individuals
