Meet the Contributors

Laura Barnes is the Tourism Communications Manager for Visit Salt Lake. Also known as the video blogger for VisitSaltLake.com, she produces written blogs on her favorite restaurants, bars, hiking trails, ski runs, and numerous activities around town. Originally from Park City, Utah, Laura is a true urbanite and knows the Salt Lake area inside-and-out!


Vanessa Brown blogs over at INeverGrewUp.net and is one of the owners of the Utah blogger review site SassyScoops.com. She helps companies all over the country with their social media marketing with her AKickIntheBuzz.com services. She also runs an online membership site teaching women to make money with their blogs at MomsMakeMoneyBlogging.com. She has two little girls, two old dogs and one celebrity dog trainer husband and loves living in Salt Lake County.


Lisa Louise Cooke is the Producer and Host of the Genealogy Gems Podcast, an online genealogy audio show at www.GenealogyGems.com. She is the author of the book Genealogy Gems: Ultimate Research Strategies and the DVD Google Earth for Genealogy, a national conference speaker, and writer for Family Tree Magazine.


Quinn Curtis is the Professional Food Photographer behind LimelightFoodPhotography.com. She gets a kick out of giving her clients lick-the-picture delicious photographs. Quinn is also mother to 3 darlings and Creative Director for SassyScoops.com. Catch her blogging about life at TheArtisticMom.com and blogging about fashion at CreatedByChicks.com. She thinks the mountains are the BEST part of Salt Lake! She loves being so close to go run up a hiking trail or have a cookout in the canyons. Additionally, Salt Lake also has an awesome culinary community with fabulous foodie talent and restaurant experiences.


Emily Hill is a wife, mother, entrepreneur and writer…and desperately trying to stay sane! She enjoys entertaining readers with her random ramblings on is this REALLY my life? She is the managing editor of SassyScoops.com, a contributing editor for Boutique Café and a contributing writer for TodaysMama. In her spare time she is a freelance copywriter composing press releases, copyediting email campaigns and writing articles for companies like eSpeakers, Rain, Cheeky & Swank and Armed Work Wear. Diet Coke and chocolate make it all possible.

I’m Joe Johnson and I have a confession – I have a serious obsession with the Wasatch! I’m a skier, snowshoer, runner, hiker, backpacker, world traveler, part-time poet and wannabe musician who can’t get enough of Salt Lake City’s outdoor offerings. Michael Mack is the VP of Services at the Salt Lake CVB. A big part of his job is keeping informed about Salt Lake’s ever growing scene of great restaurants, clubs, unique music venues and natural attractions. “Salt Lake is full of gems, some well-known and some hidden. Nothing gives me greater pleasure than sharing my ‘inside information’ with friends and guests to experience for themselves.”.

Marsha Maxwell is a long-time Utah resident who works, plays, and loves life in the Salt Lake Valley. She is currently the Salt Lake City guide for About.com. Marsha’s published writing covers a variety of topics including technology, health, the arts, food, politics, sports and recreation. She’s a fan of just about every Utah sports team, but especially Utah Utes football, University of Utah gymnastics, the Utah Jazz and Real Salt Lake. Her favorite hobbies are reading and mountain biking.

Rebecca Wright is happiest when she is in a museum. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Art History, and spends her days exploring the artsy side of Salt Lake City with her two year old, teaching piano to too many students, writing for the Sugar House Journal, blogging about her adventures at Thrilled by the Thought, and sharing her opinions on the important things in life at Always Something to Talk About.
