Salt Lake Lunch by Bike

Kendall @ 12:42 am on November 16, 2008

Although all of the Salt Lake Ski Resorts (Alta, Brighton, Solitude and Snowbird) are open for skiing, warm temps this week have returned to the valley. Warm enough that is to enjoy a noon-time bike ride around downtown to get lunch.

Shawn and I headed out on the Salt Lake Visitors Center cruiser bikes to grab a biee. This is a little taste of what biking around Salt Lake for lunch is like right now.

Muddy Mid-Mountain

Jake @ 12:23 pm on September 22, 2008

There was really only three season in Utah in the last year. A 9 month winter, a 2 week summer, and now fall. For mountain biking, there really is not better season than Fall. Everything changes color, the air gets colder, it rains, and most importantly everything gets muddy so you bike gets dirty and you can feel gnar.

Last weekend I rode my bike on Spiro trail from Park City Mountain Resort to Mid-Mountain trail than dropped into The Canyons to watch the 48Straight Biking Competition. It was off and on rain showers and blue bird the entire time and bike bike transformed from blueish gray to brown from the mud. I feel cool.

Flying Dog Fun

Jake @ 5:31 pm on September 3, 2008

Date: August 15, 2008
Location: Flying Dog, Jeremy Ranch, Park City, UT
Trail Type: Smoooth Single Track
Featuring: Me (Jake Kirshner), Mike Saltsman

One of my favorite mountain bike trails to ride in SLC while pass the time between the end of ski season (July) and the beginning of ski season (September) is the 10 mile loop known as Flying Dog in Jeremy Ranch off I-80 on the way to Park City.

It is a nice popular mtb trail that has buff single track and an awesome flowy downhill section that can take up to a half hour to completely finish. Not bad for only having an hour or two worth of climbing.

Last month a friend and I decided to do a loop around FD. Enjoy the photos!

Recipe for lame crashes:
(1) parts: first biking of the season
(1) parts: first time in clipless pedals
(1) parts: narrow areas between bridges and storage bins

Footage for next week’s video is already being compiled so that should be up within a much quicker time frame than this week’s episode.

Cheers,
Jake
