Salt Lake Connect Pass: Destination Emigration

hoglezoothisistheplace-1-of-11This morning, I decided to check out a couple popular SLC spots using the Visit Salt Lake Connect Pass, a card that gets you into all kinds of fun attractions all over the city, for one reasonable price.

My neighbor, Michele, her daughter, and I decided to head up Emigration Canyon (Sunnyside Ave) and check out the Hogle Zoo, followed by This Is The Place Heritage Park, conveniently located right down the street from each other.

Salt Lake Housing Outlook

Salt Lake HomeWhile many cities are experiencing a housing market limbo or worse, Businessweek reports in a recent article that Salt Lake’s housing outlook is bright.

Because Salt Lake did not experience the height of the frenzied housing boom times, its housing market dodged the bust and has fared far better than many other areas.  Moreover, Salt Lake is one of the “fastest-growing metropolitan areas in the country” and boasts a large Generation Y population eager to leverage the $8,000 first-time home buyer federal tax credit.  continue reading…

Salt Lake Convention Center Renamed

calvin-rampton-salt-palaceWhen you arrive at your next meeting or convention here in Salt Lake you may notice something new.  The Salt Palace has a new name.

A couple weeks ago Salt Lake held a ceremony to officially rename its convention center the Calvin L. Rampton Salt Palace Convention Center, in honor of Utah’s only three-term Governor (1965-1977) who, with his contemporaries, had the vision and foresight to plan for and build the Salt Palace Convention Center. continue reading…

Bird Watching at the Tracy Aviary

tracyaviary-birds-womanYou may not have known (I didn’t realize this until recently) that the Tracy Aviary located on 8 acres in the heart of Salt Lake City is the largest of its kind in the United States. The Tracy Aviary is a new addition to the Connect Pass this summer and it could become a favorite for many who didn’t realize this gem exists just a short distance from Downtown.

Specifically the aviary is a part of Liberty Park and with all the trees surrounding it unless you’ve known it’s there you’ve probably missed it while driving by. But it’s been there for a long time…71 years to be exact. continue reading…

Bambara

Bambara Dessert

Located on Main Street adjacent to the Hotel Monaco, Bambara boasts a phenomenal new American bistro style menu.

With menu items ranging from grilled king salmon with beluga black lentils to roasted Colorado bison and onion cornbread pudding, the difficulty in narrowing down the entree choices is only exceeded by the temptation of Chef Power’s many delectable dessert options. continue reading…

Golf Salt Lake Super Pass

Golf Salt Lake Super PassSomehow Ski Salt Lake rolls off the tongue more naturally for many who visit Salt Lake each year but did you realize that Golf Salt Lake is just as easy and actually as convenient if not more so than the world class ski resorts in the Cottonwood Canyons?  Who knew?

It’s been a longtime tradition of many locals and visitors alike who come in the spring time months of March, April and May to ski in the mornings and then finish off the day with a round of 18 holes in the afternoon.  There are certainly few places in the country where you can pull that off with ease. continue reading…
